Political leadership was not new to Krishna Hegde. He was always an outspoken person who devoted his life right from young age to the cause of public service. With his maturity earned from this long tenure of political life, he was able to justify his public representative post, and justify the faith entrusted by the people to him.
Legacy of social work and politics
Active participation in social work since student life
Krishna Hegde inherited social work and politics from his father. His father was active in social work, he joined the Congress party in 1962 and started doing social work more effectively through politics. Under his able guidance, Krishna Hegde has been actively involved in sociology and politics since his student days. He started showing his skills in politics and social work by successfully solving the issues faced by students right from school life. After entering college, in the First Year of Junior College, he contested the M. S. Y. C. election as a candidate and had a fabulous victory. Since then he worked hard to give justice to students, sort out their issues, lead student movement, orgnised Krishna Hegde, who worked hard in the student movement, as well as he was also preserving cultural values by organising no. of cultural programs and social activities. Despite this, he was also shining on the academic front.
Considering his influential personality and growing up influence in student politics, the INC top cadre proactively chose him for better responsibilities. Based on his skills to connect with youth positively and positive quick attitude towards issue solving by using politics as a tool in social work, The party appointed him to the crucial post of General Secretary of Mumbai Congress in the Youth wing & needless to mention that Hegde gave full justice to the faith entrusted in him. Till the age of 35, he continued in this position, and with a noble thought of allowing newcomers, he gave voluntary resignation from the position.
Seeing his work and talent, the then senior leader of the Congress party, late Sunil Dutt saheb, appointed Krishna Hegde as his spokesperson. Krishna Hegde had a close and affectionate family relationship with Dutt Saheb, due to his association with the party. He accepted the post and gave full justice to the post according to his nature. Furthermore, he had many positions held in INC and gave justice to every responsibility making a significant contribution to the expansion of the party.

In 2009, the party fielded Krishna Hegde as an MLA candidate from a well-educated constituency like Vile Parle, and he won. Krishna Hegde proved to be an ideal public representative who did a spectacular job of initiating many historic, developmental works in the Vile Parle constituency that will benefit future generations. Krishna Hegde is a pioneer in using modern technology for developmental works.

Krishna Hegde is the pioneer to take an exemplary step in Mumbai with many innovative and innovative concepts in the assembly constituency of Villeparle. He installed CCTV cameras in the Vile Parle Assembly constituency, becoming the first assembly constituency in the country to have CCTV cameras installed for enhanced protection. At the railway station, we can see the escalators everywhere today, but Vile Parle was the first to get escalators installed in the railway station in Mumbai. Kudos to the visionary leadership. Krishna Hegde transformed Vile Parle with 11 parks and 52 roads. He has shown his administrative skills by bringing Bhavesh Parmar back in India, who was found captive in Pakistan. The list is endless.
Unfortunately, in the subsequent elections, Krishna Hegde wasn’t able to get elected again. Of course, it didn’t affect his zeal for social work. He continued with community service, despite losing the power.
On the personal front, due to the internal politics of the Congress party, he joined the BJP, & later Shivsena but it was disappointment for him as he wasn’t getting opportunity to serve people. Honorable Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Shri. Eknath Shinde ji’s transparent administration and positive leadership for the development of the state acted as a driving force for him to join ‘Balsahebanchi Shivsena’ and in November 2022, former MLA Krishna Hegde took the saffron of ‘Balsahebanchi Shivsena’ on his shoulders. He joined the ‘Balsahebanchi Shivsena’ at the Chief Minister’s Varsha residence.
Presently Krishna Hegde is 24×7 engaged in Social Work, according to ShivSena’s formula of 80% social work and 20% politics. He is also working for the overall development of workers as a union leader.
Today, despite not being MLA, the people of Vile Parle seem to be closer to the leader who gives priority to the people than the position, and this is the success of Krishna Hegde, a dedicated social worker who serves the masses through politics!
Truly, he is the leader of masses and classes too!
